Plans, Limits, and Image Reads

What each plan includes, what an image read is, how the monthly allowance works, and what happens when you run out

Four numbers decide what your account can do: how many locations you can keep, how many projects you can run, how many image reads you get each month, and how many hours of video you can store. Current prices are on the pricing page and in Settings, under Plan and Billing.

What each plan holds

Free: 15 locations, 3 projects, 100 image reads a month, about 1 hour of video, 10 invites.

Indie: 100 locations, 10 projects, 1,000 image reads a month, about 14 hours of video, 25 invites.

Pro: 500 locations, 50 projects, 5,000 image reads a month, about 57 hours of video, unlimited invites.

Beta testers keep unlimited locations and projects while the beta runs, with image reads capped at 1,000 a month.

What counts as an image read

One read is one photo analysed by the AI tagger. Uploading photos costs nothing. Storing them costs nothing. Reads are spent only when you ask for analysis, either on a single image or through Analyze Selected on a group.

A location with twelve photos does not need twelve reads. Three or four good exterior and interior shots produce the same tags in practice, and the rest of the gallery is there for people to look at.

The monthly allowance

Your allowance refills at the start of each billing period. Unused reads do not roll over.

When you are close to the limit, the batch analysis dialog tells you before it starts, including how many reads the batch will cost. You can trim the selection at that point rather than finding out halfway through.

Buying more reads

Read packs come in 100, 350, 1,000, and 2,500. They are a one time purchase rather than a subscription change, which suits the shape of the work: a heavy import week in prep, quiet months after.

Purchased reads behave differently from your monthly allowance in two ways worth knowing:

  • They do not expire at the end of the billing period.
  • They stay on your account if you downgrade or cancel. You paid for them, so you keep them.

Your monthly allowance is spent first, then the purchased balance.

Video storage, which behaves differently

Reads are a monthly allowance that refills. Video storage is a standing total that does not, so it works the way a hard drive works rather than the way a phone plan works. Nothing resets on the first of the month, watching a clip costs nothing, and deleting one gives the space straight back.

Hours are approximate, because a handheld walk-and-talk needs more data than a static interior. Anything over 40 MB is compressed on your own device before it uploads, which is what makes an hour on the free plan an hour rather than ten minutes. Adding Video to a Location covers the whole of it.

Hitting a limit

At your location limit, new locations are blocked until you archive some, delete some, or upgrade. Archived locations still count, so archiving alone will not free space. See Archiving and Restoring Locations.

At your project limit, archive a delivered production to start a new one.

At your read limit, everything else keeps working. You can add locations, upload photos, build projects, and share. Only the AI tagging pauses, and you can still tag by hand.

At your video storage limit, new video uploads pause and nothing else changes. Everything already uploaded stays playable.

Free ways to raise your limits

Inviting colleagues adds to your limits permanently: 5 locations, 50 image reads, and 1 project for each side, once the person you invited creates their first location. See Referrals and the Expert Advisor Program.

Changing plan

Upgrades take effect immediately and your limits move with them. Downgrades apply at the end of the period you have paid for. If a downgrade puts you over the new location limit, your existing locations stay where they are and stay readable; adding new ones waits until you are under the line. Video works the same way: footage you have already uploaded is never deleted because you changed plan, only new uploads wait.
